Steven “Steve” Peter Slama, 90, formerly of Endicott, NY, was peacefully called home by our Heavenly Father on November 15, 2017. He was predeceased by Helen, his loving wife of 58 years; daughter Linda; son Steven; grandson Jeffrey; brother Andrew and John; sister Anna; parents Frederick and Anna. He is survived by his sister, Sister Paula; two daughters Nancy (Andrew) Slawta and Theresa (Joe Johns) Mullineaux and Penny Carmon; his grandchildren Matthew, Rebecca, Randy, Rachelle, Michael and Kimberly; great grandchildren Jack, Hannah, Elijah and Bowie; brother and sister-in-law John and Nancy Gnan; several nieces and nephews. He proudly served with US Army during the Korean War as a member of the Military Police. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Endicott Council 1839, honored to be a Grand Knight for two terms, retired from IBM Owego in 1984 and a member of Endicott Elks Lodge #1977. He enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife, barbecuing for his family, playing cards, camping, hunting and fishing. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Elizabeth Church Manor Nursing for their exceptional care.
Funeral Services will be held Monday 11 am at Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street Endicott with the Reverend Father James Serowik officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Monday from 10 am until service time at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you visit someone in a nursing home or make a donation to Veterans of America.
