Tessie Drobny, 93 went to be with the Lord, Friday, May 16, 2014 after a long and enjoyable life. She passed away peacefully and comfortably surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband John Drobny on Jan. 27, 2006, her brother Michael Demetry of Colorado Springs, CO on May 11, 1996 and her parents Eugene and Anna Demetry of Endwell and Seneca Falls, NY. Tessie is survived by her son, Eugene M.Drobny of Owego, NY, her daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Scott Ellis of Apalachin, NY and her granddaughter Erin Drobny Leiman (Ross) of Mt. Laurel, NJ. She is also survived by nieces Michelle Jenkins, Irving, TX , Marjorie Shupe (Paul) Peyton, CO and nephew Bob Demetry of Colorado Springs, CO and Jim Demetry/Sue Stafford of Holden, MA. Tessie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who deeply loved everyone that she shared her life with. The family would like to personally thank Tessie’s loving and compassionate caregivers Debra and Krista Farthing and Lynn Rogers who allowed Tessie to remain in her home through their extraordinary care. Her family will be forever grateful. Thank you also to Tessie’s other loyal friends, Tammy Walker, Ellie Cammarata, and Pat Beddoe who visited her often in her later years. Tessie was born at Ideal Hospital on 11/03/1920 and was a lifelong resident of Endicott, first living on Squires Ave. before marrying John and then moved to West Corners in 1956. During WWII, Tessie worked for Remington Rand where she inspected airplane propellers. She was later employed by Endicott Johnson Shoe Co. where she was a shoe stitcher. In 1965, Tessie started working part time as an aide for the U-E School District until her retirement in 2002. After 37 years of working for the school district, she retired at 81 years of age, being the oldest district employee at that time. Her dedicated love for her children kept her working all those years. Her proudest moment was when she received the Founder’s Day award from the PTA as recognition of her efforts going above and beyond her duties for the school district. In her younger days, Tessie loved to square dance and go bowling and loved her flowers. However, her greatest joy was spending time at her cottage on the west shore of Cayuga Lake in Canoga, Town of Fayette with her family. We will love you forever Mom and will miss you more than words can describe. Please take comfort knowing you will now be in heaven and reunited with Dad and two of your favorite loyal pets, Brandy and Abbey. The family would also like to acknowledge the special care given by longtime friend and physician, Dr. Jonathan Harris of Endwell Family Physicians and his special caring nurses, Shelia Gray and Susie Belancsik. Special thanks also to Wilson Hospital and the S.Tower 5 group for their comforting care. Tessie was loved by many and a sweeter lady could never be found. She will be missed by all.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be offered on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 10 am at the Allen Memorial Home in Endicott, NY, officiated by Deacon Thomas Harley from Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Burial will follow at Vestal Hills Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott Monday, May 19, 2014 from 5-7 pm.
