Thomas George Direnzo, 94, husband of Margaret Direnzo of Endicott, died Monday at the Willow Point Nursing Home, Vestal. He was born in Binghamton on March 21, 1920, son of the late Urbano and Amelia (DeFelice) Direnzo. He attended local schools and enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1941, serving in Italy, France, and North Africa. He married Margaret Rosic on November 22, 1945, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Binghamton, and they settled in Endicott. He retired from IBM after 30 years of service, ending his career as a technical writer. Besides his wife of 68 years, he is survived by a brother, Joseph Direnzo of Binghamton; daughter Carole Shores and her husband James of New London, CT; son Thomas Direnzo Jr. and his wife Margaret Ann of Oreland, PA; four grandchildren: Christopher Lacey and his wife Ali, of Norwich, CT: Thomas Lacey of Kodiak, AK; Luke Direnzo of Philadelphia, PA; Tara Bell and her husband Daniel of Philadelphia, PA; four great-grandchildren: Jack, Matthew, and Megan Lacey and Charles Bell, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings George Paciocco, Rachela (Clara) Burdick, Louis (Gino) Direnzo, and Theresa Raffaldini. He was a communicant of St. Ambrose Church in Endicott, where he served as an usher for decades, and was active on various church committees.
A Funeral Mass will be offered Friday 10 am at St. Ambrose Church, Endicott. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at church Friday 9 am until Mass time at 10 am. Donations in his name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
