Thomas J. Gallagher, 89, of Vestal, entered into eternal rest at Mercy House of the Southern Tier, surrounded by his loving family on March 21, 2024. Tom was predeceased by his wife of 54 years Marion (Petcosky) Gallagher, parents Joseph and Helen (Madigan) Gallagher; his brother, Gene, and his sister Joan. Thomas is survived by his children Joseph (Kathy) Gallagher and Ann Marie (John) Moffe. Tom is also survived by his granddaughter Sydney Gallagher, his sister Margaret Gallagher, sisters in-law Margaret Petcosky and Elizabeth Petcosky, as well as cousins and many nieces and nephews.
Tom graduated from Binghamton North High School and SUNY Broome and served in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul/Blessed Sacrament Church and retired from Singer Link. He also worked at part time positions after retirement at the Press and Sun Bulletin, Burns Security and Binghamton University. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Dodgers, and never missed a Notre Dame football game.
Tom was a quiet and reserved man who was devoted to his family and always there when we needed him the most.
The family wishes to thank all the staff of Guthrie Lourdes Hospice and Mercy House of the Southern Tier for their care for Tom, and especially the staff of Seton 2 and Seton 3 at Guthrie Lourdes for their loving care of Tom and his family during his hospitalization.
The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday March 26, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Allen Memorial Home at 511-513 East Main Street in Endicott, NY 13760. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent De Paul/Blessed Sacrament Church on Wednesday March 27, 2024 at 10:30 am, with burial to follow in Vestal Hills Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Tom’s memory may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
