Thomas “Tom” Murphy

Thomas J. Murphy, 66, of Endicott, New York passed away Monday October 30, 2017 at his home after a long and brave battle. Thomas (Tom) was born October 8, 1951 and is the son of Walter J. and Ruth E. Murphy. He is survived by his loving mother Ruth and son Robert along with his mother-in-law Patricia Dwyer, brother-in-law Michael (Mick) Dwyer, sisters-in-law Kathleen Dwyer and Mary Wagner. He is predeceased by his father Walter Murphy, father-in-law Arthur Dwyer and his loving wife of 36 years Michele Dwyer Murphy. Tom was an alumnus of Penn State University and a Certified Public Accountant for over 30 years. Tom was a managing partner at Piaker & Lyons LLC and worked as a controller for F.S Lopke Contracting before officially retiring. He was a very intelligent man who enjoyed his profession and had a large network of clients, associates and friends that trusted him greatly. He worked very hard to provide for his family and would never take credit, always doing things for others before himself. He was a man of numbers, loved to collect baseball cards with his son, go on road trips with his wife and kept a very close eye on the stock market. He would go on coin hunts, collecting spare change and returning bottles to save; he will be missed dearly. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Michael Barrett, Dr. Richard Blansky, Dr. Kyung Kim, Dr. Pradeep Pallati the nurses and staff of Lourdes Hospital and Dr. Joseph Readling and his wonderful and caring staff.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 10 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 10:30 am. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Flynn, PA. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Sunday from 1-4 pm. In lieu of flowers please consider contributions to a local charity in memory of Tom Murphy.
