Thomas E. Powell, 81, of Endwell went to be with his Lord from Good Shepherd Fairview on Monday, April 24, 2017. He was predeceased by his mother Catherine Powell, father and step-mother Elias and Betty Page Powell, brother William (Betty) Powell, sisters Mary Jane (Al) Abbott, Ruth (Bill) Blazey, brother-in-law Don Adams and nephew Michael Powell and mother-in-law Ida Marconi. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Arlene Powell, Endwell, two daughters and sons-in-law Valerie and Dr. Timothy Farrell, Johnson City, NY, Diane and Dr. Todd Katz, Woodstock, NY; four grandchildren Lauren, Douglas and Carly Farrell, Jacqueline Katz; one sister Marguerite Adams, Johnson City, NY; one step-brother and three step-sisters Steven (Roberta), Sheila (Jim) Denise and Maura; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.Special cousin Kurt Bardele, New York City; two special aunts Rena Bardele, Milwaukee and Dorothy Marconi, Endwell and many friends and sister-in-law Gloria Weiand. He was a member of St. Ambrose Church, Endicott. He was a retired I.B.M. Corporation employee, retiring with more than 40 years of service. Tom and Arlene were very active with local volunteer organizations, Red Cross, St. Ambrose Soup Kitchen, Danielle House and Lourdes Hospital. Tom was a member of the Endicott Historical Society. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing with his friends at the I.B.M Country Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and never missed a sporting or music event. Tom and Arlene enjoyed many winters in Destin, FL. and traveled the U.S.A. and to many countries around the world. A special thank you to Vin and Pat Ackerman and Sophia Kenyon and the staff of Good Shepherd for the loving care given to the Powell family during Tom’s illness.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday at 1pm from St. Ambrose Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Tom’s memory may be made to Danielle House or Mercy House of the Southern Tier.
