Vera Dellos

August 3, 1916 — October 23, 2012

Vera Dellos, 96 of Endicott, died at Good Shepherd Village at Endwell, Tuesday, October 23, 2012. She was predeceased by her husband Dominick; parents Emilio and Filomena Farina and a sister Sue Musumeci. She is survived by a daughter Gloria (Ralph) Shafer, Endicott; two sons, Reverend Father Richard E. Dellos, Utica and Robert D. Dellos, Endicott; her grandchildren Kristine L. Nicolosi; Katrina M. Shafer; Chip (Ralph) Shafer; Peter D. (Lori) Shafer; Dominick P. Dellos and Lucille A. Dellos; great grandchildren Izobel and Celia Shafer and Eva Nicolosi; a brother in law John (Angie) Dellos, San Jose, CA and a nieces JOAN (Eddie) Foley. Vera immigrated to the United States from Carunchio, Italy (in the Abruzzo Region) at the age of seven to Highland Falls, NY (Newburgh area) and in 1936 moved to Endicott. She was employed by Norton’s Book Shop and United Men’s and Boy’s Ware, were she was a talented seamstress. Her sewing was very special to her, teaching her granddaughters Kristie and Katrina how to make their prom dresses. She even made a beautiful coat, hat, dress and matching purse for her daughter. Some of her enjoyments in life were cooking, singing and dancing. Vera was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Endicott, the Northside Senior Citizens and Choir, Catholic Daughters of America and St. Ann’s Society. Special gratitude to the first floor ACF staff at Good Shepherd Village at Endwell, for the past two years, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Fairview Avenue Rehab nurses and aids, Good Shepherd Village second floor Rehab, OT, PT, all nurses and nursing assistants, therapy and dietary departments, Jim, Pastor Bob and of course our loving and kind Tamara, Don Burgan, Sister Anisia, Fathers Clarence Rumble and Jim Serowik, for all their visits and prayers.A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday 5 pm at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 306 Odell Avenue, with her son Reverend Father Richard Dellos as Principal Celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at church Friday from 3 pm until Mass time at 5 pm.
