Vickie Weiner

Vickie L. Weiner passed away on May 31, 2023 at home. Vickie is predeceased by her mother Phyllis McVannan, father Fenton McVannan, brother William McVannan, first husband John Potochniak, and father in law Alfred Weiner. Vickie is survived by her husband Robert Weiner, mother in laws Gloria Seniw and Marilyn Weiner, brothers Jamie McVannan (Joanne), David McVannan, Kevin McVannan (Kristine), children Stephen Potochniak (Kayla), Courtney Potochniak (Jason), Matthew Potochniak, Steven Weiner (Shelby), Karen Weiner, and sister in law Linda Weiner, grandchildren Savannah, Killian, Jameson, and Sophia, her loyal four-legged companion Harleigh, and many nieces and nephews.
Vickie was born in Endicott, NY on April 20, 1965. She graduated from Ross Corners Christian Academy. Vickie received her Associates Degree from Broome Community College in Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse for many years at UHS Binghamton General Hospital. Vickie was a lifelong learner, who furthered her education at Kings College to complete her Physician Assistant Degree. She spent many years working at River Hospital in Alexandria Bay, NY as a RPA-C. Vickie spent her free time working as a paramedic and dispatcher for Superior Ambulance. She worked as a tactical medic for Binghamton SWAT team. One of Vickie’s favorite jobs was working for AHL Binghamton Senators Hockey Team as the medic. Vickie had the honor to be added to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Vickie devoted her whole life helping and taking care of others, no matter if they were family or not.
When Vickie was not saving lives, and helping others, she spent time with her husband riding motorcycles and traveling. Vickie spent lots of summers with her family, especially her husband in the Thousand Islands which was considered her “happy place”. She loved to hike to her favorite rock at Wellesley Island State Park. Vickie enjoyed kayaking and fishing on the river. She very much enjoyed being with nature. Vickie loved to hike and was always up for a challenge; which included her hiking Mt Killimanjaro, and sky diving in Upstate New York. Vickie was a phenomenal mother to her three children and took care of her two stepchildren like her own. She loved her children fiercely and would go above and beyond for them. Vickie enjoyed hanging, especially with her grandchildren that she adored.
She was very active in her community. She always put others before herself. She truly will be missed by many, and remembered for all that she did throughout her life, community Vickie was a member at CalTab Church in Vestal, completing mission work in Sri Lanka after the tsunami devastated the country. Vickie volunteered her time with veterans with Honor Flight in Binghamton.
Calling hours and service will be held at CalTab Church on 729 Main Street in Vestal on Thursday June 8, 2023. Calling hours will be from 10-12pm with service to follow. Private burial with family will be on Friday June 9, 2023 at Calvary Cemetery.
