Vivian (Jean) Blodgett, 89, of Apalachin passed away peacefully with loving family by her side on Thursday, May 9, 2019. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, her parents, and eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Charlene (Terry) Bish, Brewerton, NY and Darlene (Ken) Wintersteen, Owego; two sons Michael (Ann) Blodgett, Owego and David (Mari) Blodgett, Endicott; her thirteen grandchildren Jonathon; Kimberly; Stacey; Eric; Michael; Jessica; Jeffrey; Mary; Karen; Andrea; Tyler; Andrew and Robert; ten great-grandchildren Vivian; Kadence; Gaige; Calleigh; Jon; Kyle; Liam; Drew; Beau; and Robert as well as several nieces; nephews and cousins.
She attended First Presbyterian Church, Endicott. Vivian was a homemaker devoting her life to Charles, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “Mother” as Charles affectionately called her was generous and selfless, always putting others first. Her world was centered around her family and friends.
A special thanks to the compassionate staff at Hilltop Nursing Home especially Audrey, LeAnn and Mona for watching over Vivian these last few years.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Marshland Road, Apalachin, at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15. Afterwards, the family will receive family and friends starting at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 29 Grant Avenue, Endicott. Service to follow at 12 noon.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or simply by doing a good deed for someone in need.
