Vivienne “Joy” Forbes

On Saturday, June 10, 2023, The Lord called another of his disciples’ home as Vivienne “Joy”
Forbes died peacefully with her family at her side. She was predeceased by her parents, David Phelps and Jessica Kozich as well as her husband James G. Forbes. She is survived by her three daughters, Karen Blackman and Jim Rodgers, Eileen and Kyle Konecny and Dianne and Nick Monico, five grandchildren Jessica Blackman (Steve Gofran), Tyler and Katrina Plew, Kirk and Betsy Blackman, Dylan Konecny (Darian Meagley) and David Monico (Sarah Espe), six great grandchildren Addison and Aliana Blackman, Adrienne Exley, Wyatt Plew, Lucas and Sylvia Blackman, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Joy was a gifted seamstress for many years providing alterations, sewing wedding gowns and bridesmaid gowns for many ladies in our area. She was known to all as the woman who could alter or sew anything; and she did it well. Joy was a homemaker for years while raising her three daughters. She provided them with everything they needed while teaching them to become excellent cooks, like she was, and the tricks of housekeeping. She had a solution for every stain, and a way to clean anything.
She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Endicott and had a deep devotion to our beautiful lady, the Blessed Mother.
Joy was friend to many and a guiding light to her daughters, lending an ear to listen or offering a hand to help , or comfort, at all times. Whether you knew her as “Viv”, Joy, Mom, Mrs. Forbes or Nana, please remember the happy moments you spent with her, like we will. Rest in peace mom, fly with the angels, give our love to dad and we will see you again one day.
Funeral service will held Thursday, June 15′ 2023 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main
Street, Vestal, NY. The family will receive friends from 10 AM followed by a funeral mass at Il AM. Burial will be at Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott- The family would like to express loving thanks to the staff at James G Johnston Nursing Home who cared for Joy over the last 7 years.
