Warren F. Haas, 88, of Endicott, NY beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather peacefully went to the Lord on Tuesday, April 12 at the Vestal Park Nursing Center. He was born in the Bronx, NY in 1928 and was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Bernardine Haas. He spent much of his youth in Collingdale, PA and graduated from West Catholic HS in 1945. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosemarie (Suscello), of 62 years, brother Frederick J. Haas, brother in-law Joseph Suscella, children Bernardine Armstrong (Joe) of Charlotte, NC; Francis Haas (Diane) of Houston, TX; Michael Haas (Cathy) of Binghamton, NY; Christine Bade (Nick) of Cleveland, OH; Barbara Ann Vassallo (Frank) of Corning, NY; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Warren’s warmth, faith and humor will remain a source of comfort to his family. He served in theUnited State Navy during W.W. IIon the USS Saipan and the USS Wright. Upon discharge from the Navy, he began his career in radio in 1948, with positions in Miami, Philadelphia, and New London, CT. His dream of owning a radio station was realized in 1969 when he became the co-owner of WEBO Inc. in Owego, NY and later, WWBK in Brockport, NY. After his retirement, he was a consultant for Point Audio and CMM Advertising, both in Endicott, NY. In 2013 he was inducted into the Southern Tier Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame. As a community leader in Tioga County, he dedicated himself in service to others. He was a former president of the OwegoRotary Club. In recognition of his efforts in Rotary, he was named a Paul Harris Fellow, a prestigious international award for significant lifetime contribution of service and recognized for over 37 years perfect attendance. As a humble servant to his Roman Catholic faith, he was a daily communicant. Other ministries include: Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Holy Name Society, RCIA, Bereavement, Knights of Columbus (50 yrs.), Nocturnal Adoration, and Vocations coordinator. He was also instrumental in starting Eucharistic Adoration at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Endicott, NY. The family is grateful to the care providers at Ideal Senior Living Center, Lourdes Hospital-Seton 1, and Vestal Park Nursing Center for their loving care.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 10:30 a.m. from Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 701 West Main Street, Endicott. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at church Friday from 4 to 7 pm and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:15 am. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to thecharity of one’s choice.
