William C. (Bill) Brunner, 84, passed away peacefully at the James G. Johnson Nursing Home UMH-Hilltop campus on October 16, 2024 following a long battle with Alzheimers and a stroke.
Predeceased by his parents John R. and Jane (Gault) Brunner, and brother-in-law Michael Esposito, he is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Priscilla; his children Michael (Dianne) Brunner, Endicott, NY, Cheri (Jamie) Boyd, Pittsford, NY, Jacqueline (Tim) Truex, Endwell, NY, Sean Brunner, Endicott, NY, and Matthew (Yu-Wen) Brunner, Phoenix, AZ. He was exceedingly proud of his grandchildren Joseph Brunner and Megan (Jared) Ross, Samuel Boyd, Emma Truex, and Dean and Dylan Brunner. Bill is also survived by his siblings Barbara Esposito and James (Rosanne) Brunner, many nieces and nephews, and cousins Ellie Cooper and Carolyn Cooper of CA. Bill was a graduate of Union-Endicott High School, attended Ithaca College, and served in the United States Air Force. He began working at the Town of Union and Broome County Planning Boards. Then with his brother and co-owner, James, he embarked upon a 35 year career at the Endicott Lumber & Box Company. During that time he took pride in developing relationships with local builders and providing quality products to the community. He also served with multiple professional lumber dealer associations, including as chairman of the board of the Northeast Retail Lumber Association. A proud supporter of Endicott, Bill spent countless hours volunteering with the Rotary Club, and especially enjoyed hosting international exchange students. Later, he dedicated much of his time to the expansion of the Endicott Visitor Center. Bill prized his many trips with Priscilla to Europe, Asia, and Africa. Passionate in all his pursuits, Bill had a lifelong love of movies, music, dancing, photography, golf, (and, as we all know, conversing Ad Infinitum!). Each of his children can attest to his unmatched joy at the properly held work light or perfectly dug post hole. The family would especially like to thank all of the staff at the STAR Unit at the James G. Johnson Nursing Home for their years of loving, thoughtful care and attention.
