William H. “Bill” Crane, 78, of Nanticoke, passed away peacefully at home after an extended illness on August 29, 2023, with his son, Jimmy by his side. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Carolyn R. Crane. Survived by sons, Jimmy (Carrie) Crane, Jeff Crane; sister, Virginia “Ginger” Crane of California; grandchildren, including a special bond with his grandson, James Cook, and his beloved grand-dog, Oscar. Bill was a United States Air Force Veteran (Sgt) who served as a Mechanic on B-52’s during the Vietnam War at Griffiss AFB. He continued his career as a mechanic and retired from the Whitney Point Bus Garage, he also served many years as the Fire Chief of Fire Station 47 for Glen Aubrey, He was an active member of the Nanticoke Baptist Church with Rev. Gary and Carolyn Hinman, Bill Enjoyed spending time with his family and friends including shooting the breeze with his buddies at coffee time every Tuesday. He was known for being a very caring man who would do anything for anyone if he could and would often do it anyway if he couldn’t. He always had wisecracks and comebacks, and an equally wise sense of humor. He enjoyed the outdoors and mowing his acres of lawn on his John Deere. Bill was beyond thankful he was able to spend his final days at home calling all the shots right to the end with his daughter in-law Carrie living with him in order to give him the care he needed to keep him at home. Bill was also grateful for everyone he saw day in and out during his final days along with many special visitors. He would also like to give thanks to Dr. Kristen Robillard & Nurse Heather Massey at PFM, Dr. DeMaine & Staff at Lourdes, STIC, and The Angels with Lourdes Hospice.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 5 at 11 am at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in Upper Lisle Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the Allen Memorial Home from 10 am until Service time at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Twin Tiers Honor Flight or Mercy House of The Southern Tier. “Dad, we miss you already give Mom hugs for us, So long Chiefy…We’ll take it from here”
