William Moon

William J. Moon, 90, passed away at his home Monday, August 3, 2015 after an extended illness due to Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was predeceased by his wife of over 60 years, Irene Moon and his parents William and Agnes Moon. He is survived by two daughters and a son in law, Anne Moon, Endicott and Elaine and Steve Spaulding, Deposit, NY; three sons and a daughter in law James Moon, Waverly Hall, GA; Gerald Moon, Rochester, NY and Michael and Michelle Moon, Deposit, NY; six grandchildren Vanessa Moon; David Moon; Paul Moon and his wife, Amy; Ryan Raker; Michael and Patrick Moon; four great grandchildren Holly Moon-Cromheecke; Christina; Tammy and Sierra Lloyd; sister in law and brother in law Lucille and Walter Dickinson, Ft. Myers, FL; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Endicott where he was active in the soup kitchen, worked on the parish council and served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a board member of both the Tioga United Way and the Waterman Center and also volunteered with Catholic Charities. William was also active with the Owego Rotary and the Owego Merchants Association. He was a W.W. II veteran serving with the U.S. Air Force and was a former manager at various JJ Newberry Stores in the area.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 am at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main St. Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 10:30 am. Graveside Services will be held Friday in St. Joachim’s Cemetery, Meshoppen, PA at 2:30 pm. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Thursday from 4-7 pm.
