Yvette Mildred Odofin, born on March 21, 1956, to proud parents Robert Sinkler and Mildred Hicks, embarked on her final journey on August 31, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Yvette was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, wife, and cherished friend whose presence will be sorely missed.
Yvette was the third of eight children, sharing her childhood with her sisters Gwendolyn, Kerima, Dierdra, Yolanda, Sheryl, and brothers Robert and Hassan. Their bond was unbreakable, and they created countless cherished memories together.
On June 9, 1979, Yvette embarked on a beautiful journey of matrimony when she married the love of her life, Atkins Odofin, at a serene Lutheran church in Hempstead, Long Island. Their union was filled with love and devotion, a testament to the enduring power of their bond.
Yvette’s thirst for knowledge led her to complete her high school education and further her studies at BOCES, where she pursued a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Her compassion and dedication made her an invaluable asset to the healthcare community.
For many years, Yvette dedicated her professional life to UHS Hospital (Wilson Medical Center), where she touched countless lives with her caring and nurturing spirit. Her commitment to her patients was unwavering, and her colleagues held her in the highest regard.
Yvette Mildred Odofin was a woman of many passions. In her leisure time, she found solace in watching old movies, immersing herself in the pages of a good book, enjoying the serenity of the beach, and finding joy in the gentle embrace of the water while swimming. These activities brought her immense happiness and provided a respite from the demands of everyday life.
Yvette was a woman of grace, kindness, and unwavering love. Her radiant smile and warm presence were a source of comfort and joy to all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and dedication that will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
Yvette Mildred Odofin is survived by her loving husband, Atkins Odofin; her children Ade Odofin and Deni Odofin; and her siblings, Sheryl Dugard, Dierdra Bennett, Yolanda Sing, Robert Sinkler, and Hassan Sinkler; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other family members who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. She joins her late mother, and her sisters Kerima Vega and Gwendolyn Lennon.
Funeral Services for Yvette will be held on Wednesday at 11 am at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the Allen Memorial Home from 10 am until Service time at 11 am.
