Anna S. Kotasek, 87, went to be with the Lord Dec 26. She is survived by Peter, her husband of 67 years, and sons Richard (Marie) Kotasek and P. Michael Kotasek, three grandchildren, Misty (Sam) Reichman, Shawn (Jeanette) Fritz, and Amber (Ryan) Crawford and four great-grandchildren (Jade Reichman, Damien and Melanie Fritz, and William Crawford). She was the daughter of John and Rosalie Sochor and the sister of Frances (Joseph) Tesar, Agnes Shattuck Dekar, and Margaret (Robert) Horbey. Anna was the loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Union-Endicott High School class of 48, and a member of St Joseph’s church. Proud of her Czech heritage she belonged to the Czechoslovak Moravian Club and practiced the incredibly detailed art of Czech egg etching known as Kraslice’ and was awarded a blue ribbon by the New York State Fair for her work. For Many years she was employed by and part owner of Sochor Travel which was started by her father in 1935. The family would like to thank the staff of Vestal Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and Broome Oncology for their exceptional care of Anna.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 11:30 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 207 Hayes Avenue, Endicott. Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery, Binghamton at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at church Saturday from 10 am until Mass time at 11 am. In Lieu of flowers please make a donation in Anna’s name to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or a charity of your choice.
