Eugene (Gene) Tedesco, 90, of Endwell NY, born June 17, 1927, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 after complications from pneumonia. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jacqueline (Jackie); daughter Rene’ (Robert) Schmidt, sons Jim Tedesco, and Christopher (Janelle) Tedesco; grandchildren Alexandra, Michael, James, Anthony, and Roman; along with many nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Frances Tedesco, and sisters Alyce Budjinski, June Miles, and Bernadine Sharpe. Born and raised in Peckville PA, Gene joined the United States Army directly following his high school graduation. He served during WWII in Germany for two years, working in Special Services. Eugene graduated from Mansfield State College with a degree in Education, and also attended Boston University. After several years of teaching Gene joined John Hancock Insurance Co., from which he retired after 28 years of service. He then went on to work for the Town of Union in the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Eugene was a member of Church of the Holy Family for 50 years, as well as a member of the Holy Name Society, serving as an usher and greeter for 30 years. You could always find Gene working in the kitchen at the church bazaar and Lenten fish dinners. Gene was a diehard Maine-Endwell Spartans football fan known by many as ‘Mr. T.,’ and could be seen at the top of the bleachers for every game, rain or shine. Gene was a selfless and humble man, always putting others before himself. His jokes and sense of humor could bring a smile to anyone’s face, and we know he is smiling down upon us now. The family would like to thank Lourdes Hospice for the outstanding care provided. The family would like to also say a special thank you to Dr. John Perry for his years of friendship and care for Gene.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday 9:30 am at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at Church of the Holy Family at 10 am.
