Gloria was predeceased by her husband, John (Jack) F. Hastings in 1983. She was also predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Josephine Laskowski; her sister, Dorothy (Laskowski) Laris; her brothers and sisters-in -law Paul and Eleanor Hastings; Robert and Eleanor Hastings; Matthew and Kate Hastings; Marie and Jerry Shaughnessy; niece-in-law Carol Hastings and nephew Garrett Hastings. Gloria also has a brother, Joseph Laskowski.
Gloria is survived by her son, William (Bill) and daughter-in-law Kathryn (Kate) Hastings of Vestal; granddaughter Jacquelyn Hastings of Jacksonville, Florida; granddaughter Tori (Peter) Law of Syracuse, New York; great grandchildren Madeline Isla Law and Peter Vincent Law III of Syracuse, New York. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Gloria grew up in Johnson City, New York and graduated from Johnson City High School. She worked at IBM where she met the one and only love of her life, Jack Hastings. They were married in 1955 and worked at IBM for several years before they had their son Bill when Gloria became a housewife and mother. A devoted wife and mother until 1983 when Jack died suddenly and tragically at the age of 59. At that time, Gloria worked a couple of jobs and traveled with her brothers and sisters-in-law until the birth of her first grandchild. When her granddaughters were born in 1991 and 1992 they soon became her life and she helped raise them while their parents were working. She provided the best upbringing for her son and granddaughters. She was enormously loved by her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.
Gloria considered her brothers and sisters-in -law her best friends and adored her nieces and nephews. She loved animals and nature, especially her dogs and cats. She loved to read, watch old westerns and was intensely private.
A service at the cemetery is being planned and will be shared at that time. In lieu of flowers, Gloria would want a donation made to any animal rescue of your choice.
