James Blakeney passed away peacefully at Lourdes Hospital Saturday November 28, 2015 surrounded by his loving family and a truly compassionate Registered Nurse, Carmen VanDunk. He is predeceased by his mother, Beverly Haskell-Nurek; grandfather, Robert D. Haskell; uncle, Robert E. Haskell and his aunt, Midge Stewart. Jim is survived by his wife Deborah; son, Matthew and daughters, Jennifer and Melissa (Melis). He is also survived by his sister, Jill Blakeney; brother, Kevin Blakeney; nephew, David Blakeney; uncle, David Blakeney and father, Gorden Blakeney. Jim was self-employed in the excavating and landscaping business. He enjoyed working beside his friends at Green Acres and American Excavating owned by Tommy Ehrich. He took great pride in perfection and detail in his work. He was a skilled craftsman with a passion for creating beauty with wood. He was a member of the TG. He was an avid hunter and was happiest when he was in the woods. He enjoyed working with kids; and especially enjoyed his time as an assistant coach of the Cook’s Tree Service Challenger League baseball team. Jim loved and took great pride in his family. He loved his ducks Boonie and Mama, his dogs Harley and Chief, and any stray animal that crossed his path. We will miss you. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Funeral and Interment services will be held Thursday at 7 pm from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main Street, Endicott, with the Reverend David Seaver officiating. Burial will be in Vestal Park Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Thursday from 4 pm until service time at 7 pm.
