John R. Wolfe, 72, of Endicott, NY passed away peacefully at Wilson Memorial Hospital on August 4, 2012. He was predeceased by his son, John R. Wolfe, Jr.; father, John Wolfe; sister, Mary Ann Gordon; father in-law, Gerald Mock; and mother in-law, Rita Mock. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ann Marie Wolfe; son and daughter in-law, J. Gerald Wolfe and Nicole Wolfe of Binghamton; daughter, Kathleen Wolfe of Endicott; mother, Anna Wolfe of Johnson City; sister, Christine Marino of Johnson City; brother in-law, Pat Gordon of Keeseville, NY; and sister in-law and brother in-law, Joseph and Eileen Murray of Skaneateles, NY. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a very special “grand-dog” Achilles. John was a member of Saint Ambrose Church in Endicott. He attended school at Union-Endicott and graduated from LaSalle Military Academy. He also attended Harpur College. John was a loving husband and father, a caring, sincere, gentle person who was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. John was an accountant, he operated a business called the Tax Man for over 35 years, he specialized in income tax preparation and small business accounting. He was also known as “Mr. Waffleman”. John was the father of the original owners of Wolfie’s Ice Cream Shop. He was nicknamed “Mr. Waffleman”, by the children that loved to watch him make waffle cones.John enjoyed playing golf and was a dedicated fan never missing any of his children’s sporting events. He enjoyed road trips, which included visiting relatives, taking family members shopping, athletic events and going to the casino. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, Thursday, August 9th from 4-7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Ambrose Church, Washington Avenue, Endicott at 10 am on Friday, August 10th.Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family would like to thank the staff of South Tower Three, Wilson Hospital, Dr. Jayaraman, Dr. Kashou, Dr. Perry and Tracy at Endwell Family Physicians for their kindness and devoted care. John loved animals of all kinds. Expressions of sympathy in John’s memory may be made to the Broome County Humane Society, 2 Jackson Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13903 or the Mother Teresa’s Cupboard at St. Ambrose Church. May John’s soul rest in peace and may the angels in heaven welcome him home to God’s loving arms.
