Patricia Ann Marconi went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Feb. 1, 2019, at Elizabeth Church Methodist Home, Binghamton, New York. Patricia was born on November 16, 1933, to Evelyn Pitcher and Paul Van Dusen in Maine, New York. She was a 1951 graduate of Vestal Central High School and attended Wilson Memorial School of Nursing. Patricia was married to Richard Van Order until his death in 1965. She married Joseph Marconi, in 1967, and shared 30 years of marriage until his passing in 1997. Patricia worked at Endicott Machine & Tool (EMT), which was founded by her husband in 1947. They worked side-by-side for years, and Patricia became President of EMT upon his passing. Patricia was awarded “Small Business Woman of the Year”, and this award was presented to her at Lockheed Martin by Senator Hillary Clinton. Patricia enjoyed many years travelling around the world with her husband Joe, to China, Portugal, Italy, Spain and many other countries. When they were in Rome, she was fortunate enough to meet the Pope. She was an accomplished knitter, loved to crochet, cross stitch and go antiquing. Patricia was very involved in her church, Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, and was a Trustee. She loved cats, especially her two Singapore’s, and contributed greatly to the Broome County ASPCA and to the MSPCA in Boston, MA. Patricia is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Donald Northrup, her nephews Douglas Northrup (Sheryl), Richard Northrup, nieces Wendy Karn-Asaro (Nicolo) and Megan Verdichizzi (Vincent). Step-children Linda Phillips, Christine Doyle, Mark Marconi and JoAnn Bakke. Grandchildren Daniel Phillips, Molly Doyle and Brianna Bakke. Great nieces and nephews Samantha and Cassandra Verdichizzi, Brody Karn, Jenna-Kate Monisoff, Michael, Amanda, Brittany Northrup, and Cody-Lyn Stryker. Great Grandchildren Colton, Caiden, Christian and Rylee-Shea Phillips. Great-great nieces and nephews Tyler Galvin, Quinn, Andre, Jamison, Emma Northrup and Elizabeth Stryker. Cousins Brenda and Dale Hawley, Karen Gorman, Janet, Wayne, Wade, Corey, Brett Craver, Terri Allan and Sheri Espinoza. Patricia and her extended family all shared many wonderful memories with her. Patricia was predeceased by her husband’s Richard Van Order and Joseph Marconi, infant son Mark Van Order and her granddaughter Hollie Lynn Phillips. The family would like to thank the staff of Broome County Home Instead for their years of compassion and love, the staff at Elizabeth Church Methodist Home and Ed Morton at Chemung Canal Trust. These wonderful people were invaluable to us over the years.
Visitation will be Friday, February 8, 2019, from 12 to 2 pm at Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, Johnson City, New York. A service will begin at 2 pm at the church, with burial following at Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to your local ASPCA in Patricia’s name, or to a charity that’s close to your heart.
